Job Description:
Under broad oversight and in compliance with Company policies and procedures, responsible for creating CNC programs for a variety of multi-axis CNC machines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies and implements innovative solutions for material removal, automation, and inspection processes. Provides technical support for quality controls, process improvements, cost savings, process development projects, etc.
- Provides support for the development of manufacturing processes on various 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers. Develops machining solutions for various materials (superalloys, medical grade steels, etc.).
- Manages projects and initiates/receives business or project-related communications – with vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders concerning products, processes, equipment, forgings, tooling, fixtures, and gauges.
- Utilizes Simulation/Verification software, i.e. Vericut/CAMplete to ensure no machine collision occurs and program is optimized.
- Evaluates new and legacy parts/programs and manufacturing processes for Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Creates Tool and setup sheets for machinists and setup personnel for use on the shop floor, ensuring all necessary documents are attached to the applicable job within the ERP software.
- Works collaboratively with Manufacturing/Process and Quality Engineering in participated in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews.
- Acts as a steward of the Phillips Precision brand, consistently representing and reflecting the Company’s core values, approach, and high standards of excellence in all internal and external interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work closely with Customers and Manufacturing engineering to develop process control requirements for new and revised product.
- Create, review and approve new PPAP documentation following customer and internal processes and procedures.
- Develop new inspection methods for critical quality attributes working closely with the QC Operations Manager and customers as required.
- Utilize software to generate ballooned drawings to create in-process, intermediate, and final product acceptance inspection plans.
- Qualify and approve new inspection methods by conducting measurement system analysist using GR&R.
- Establish process control by performing process capability studies as required to justify reduced inspection sampling plans.
- Support continuous improvement efforts utilizing Lean/Six Sigma, and other quality tools and statistical methods.
- Evaluate and investigate internal and customer rejections.
- Perform root cause analysis as needed using quality methods such as 5 why, fishbone, 6M, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred; or equivalent related work experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on manufacturing process experience.
- Experience with conventional and CNC machining processes; such as but not limited to milling (HMC & VMC), turning (multi-axis), heat treating , gun drilling, and grinding.
- Proficiency ins CAD/CAM software, MasterCam and Solidworks preferred.
- Experience in identifying tooling, along with the appropriate operating conditions (speeds and feeds).
- Previous experience working in a highly regulated environment is a must – Understanding of ISO 13485 preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and drawing interpretation.
- Familiar with all types of measuring equipment, including but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, height gages, CMM, etc.
- Must be mobile, capable of clearly communicating with customers and plant personnel at all levels.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills; composing written reports and other communications as required.
Physical Demands:
- Required to stand for long periods of time.
- May involve some repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling.
